This is such an important tribute to our boy Ronan, and one step closer to getting Justice for him.<\/p><p><img src=\"https:\/\/images.teemill.com\/h06gnwcbi1rrpt6orlttc2gwx3vjvethkkim1ovkjigae8ya.png.png?w=1140&amp;v=2\" alt=\"h06gnwcbi1rrpt6orlttc2gwx3vjvethkkim1ovkjigae8ya.png.png?w=1140&amp;v=2\" \/>Ronan\u2019s Law is a set of measures designed to tackle the online sale of knives and combat knife crime in the UK, introduced following the fatal stabbing that took Ronan from us, using a ninja sword purchased online. Key provisions include mandatory reporting of suspicious knife purchases by retailers, stricter age verification for online sales, and increased penalties for selling weapons to minors. The law also introduces a new offense of possessing a weapon with intent to cause violence and a consultation on a registration scheme for online knife retailers.\u00a0And, lastly, but most crucially for us, a ban on the ninja sword.<\/p><p><img src=\"https:\/\/images.teemill.com\/fh2gfu0s6vrv0lz27ntadbvnnyxjjjiskisoizya1klremye.png.png?w=1140&amp;v=2\" alt=\"fh2gfu0s6vrv0lz27ntadbvnnyxjjjiskisoizya1klremye.png.png?w=1140&amp;v=2\" \/><strong>Key Provisions of Ronan's Law:<\/strong><\/p><ul><li><p><strong>Reporting Suspicious Purchases:<\/strong><\/p><p>Online retailers will be required to report bulk or suspicious purchases of knives to the police, helping to identify potential misuse and illegal sales to minors.\u00a0<\/p><\/li><li><p><strong>Stricter Age Verification:<\/strong><\/p><p>A two-step verification process will be implemented for online knife sales, aiming to prevent underage individuals from purchasing knives.\u00a0<\/p><\/li><li><p><strong>Increased Penalties:<\/strong><\/p><p>The maximum sentence for selling weapons to those under 18 will be increased, and individuals or companies failing to comply with the regulations could face significant fines or imprisonment.\u00a0<\/p><\/li><li><p><strong>New Offense:<\/strong><\/p><p>A new offense of possessing an offensive weapon with intent to cause violence will be introduced, carrying a potential prison sentence of up to four years.\u00a0<\/p><\/li><li><p><strong>Consultation on Registration:<\/strong><\/p><p>The government will consult on the need for a registration scheme for online knife retailers.\u00a0<\/p><\/li><li><p><strong>Ban on Ninja Swords:<\/strong><\/p><p>A ninja sword, for the purpose of this ban, is defined as having a blade between 14 to 24 inches (35 to 60cm) long, with a tanto or reversed tanto-style point, and potentially a second blade attached at an angle. The ban aims to remove these weapons from circulation and prevent them from being used in violence.<\/p><\/li><\/ul><p><\/p><p>Whilst Ronan\u2019s Law is a huge success for our campaign and another step closer towards getting Justice for our boy Ronan, there\u2019s still so much more work to be done.
